Owens & Minor Distribution Supervisor- 1st Shift in Kansas City, Missouri

JOB SUMMARY:

Warehouse Distribution Supervisor- 1st shift position, start time may vary (3am- 6am) dependent on departmental needs.

This position is considered a working supervisor who works alongside the team to accomplish daily responsibilities. Job duties include:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of Teammates engaged in receiving, transporting, order filling, and shipping.
  • Pick products for customer orders in the bulk area using an order picker machine, voice pick system, and handheld device.
  • Pick items for customer orders in the low unit of measure area using the voice pick system and handheld device.
  • Deliver orders to the staging platform in a manner that meets company standards for productivity, accuracy, and safety.
  • Receive and put away product in proper locations. Responsible for the completeness and correctness of all product put aways and orders filled.
  • Check outbound shipments for accuracy and readiness for customer delivery.
  • Use material handling equipment such as an order picker, reach truck, and pallet jack.

Applicants should have the ability to be standing, walking, reaching, and moving during each shift as well as being comfortable operating material handling equipment extending up to a height of 30 feet to reach shelved items. Experience with RF units in a retail or warehouse setting preferred. Safety toe shoes required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists teammates in solving work problems.

2.Works with teammates to review bills of lading of incoming merchandise and customer orders to plan work activities.

3.Works with Warehouse Manager and Lead Driver to prepare truck driver's delivery schedule.

4.Assigns teammates to specific duties, such as verifying amounts of and storing incoming merchandise and/or assembling customer orders for delivery.

5.Establishes work schedules and ensures that the schedules are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly.

6.Responsible for supervising Leads and warehouse teammates to ensure all warehouse functions are completed in a timely and accurate manner

7.Screens and provides input into the hiring of warehouse teammates; ensures teammates receive the appropriate training for their job function including the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment and warehouse machinery.

8.Interprets company policies to teammates and enforces safety regulations

9.Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

10.Conducts performance reviews and works in conjunction with Warehouse Manager or General Manager on initiating personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary actions.

11.Recommends measures to improve quality and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.

12.Ensures total adherence to all Federal statues regarding warehouse operations including DEA and OSHA regulations.

13.Works with non-warehouse departments such as Account Receivable, Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service to ensure coordination of warehouse activities.

14.Must possess a the general ability to use Windows based programs and the routine ability to retrieve and utilize available reports related to essential job activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:

General knowledge of a variety of basic topics, such as math, reading, basic accounting, typing, etc.Equal to a high school diploma. Four year college degree preferred. Successful completion of all company warehouse training modules resulting in certification. Supervisory Certification must be completed before an internal candidate can be promoted into the role.In addition, for external hires the Supervisory Certification must be completed within6-9 months.

B. WORK EXPERIENCE:

At least one year of O&M experience as a Lead; or one year of O&M warehouse experience plus one year of external lead experience required.For external hires at least one year of lead experience required and at least two years warehouse experience preferred.
