POSITION SUMMARY

The Operating Vice President of Information Services Delivery requires consistent attention to and involvement in all aspects of IT Delivery with particular emphasis on the 0 to 36 month planning horizon. Implements and ensures global operational controls, global processes, global procedures, and global systems that support the business while ensuring customer and teammate satisfaction, financial performance, operating efficiency and adherence to company values.

The very highest priority of every IT department is to ensure that business operations are not impacted by disruption of production IT systems. The VPISD manages teammates and external resources that deliver this vital service for Core, HCL and EDI business functions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.Applies extensive IT knowledge and experience to globally plan, organize, staff, direct and control Owens & Minor teammates and multiple vendor relationships to ensure that IS Delivery meets or exceeds expectations.

2.Devises and helps to implement IT strategies and tactics for achieving Owens & Minor's corporate objectives

3.Directs strategic and tactical planning efforts globally among business units, Information Systems, IT vendors and other stakeholders.

4.Utilizes financial acumen to judge the merits of a proposed business case to acquire or extend or modify vendor offerings and/or to create a compelling business case for the same.

5.Reviews operating results, compares them with established global objectives, and takes action that enhances outcomes

6.Provides administrative management for all teammates in IT Delivery

a. Reviews reports or other measurement devices to understand teammate assignments and follows up as appropriate

b. Identifies and resolves personnel issues, escalates when appropriate

c. Conducts and/or participates in performance evaluations

d. Conducts and/or participates in compensation reviews

e. Reviews and approves all new hires or changes in position

7.Provides advice, guidance, and direction to the global team, including policies and procedures, company initiatives, and management of existing customer and teammate relationships.

8.Assists with the preparation, implementation and management of global data processing procedures and systems.

9.Assists in the determination of training needs for teammates, within the limits of corporate and divisional expense and administrative policies.

10.Maintains professional contacts with related external companies, research bodies and equipment manufacturers concerning computer applications and equipment.

11.Keeps abreast of technological changes and innovation in the information technology field.

12.Communicates with the Field and Corporate Operations related to the operations and availability of production business systems.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1.This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Management Sciences including Information Systems (MIS) or Computer Science; Graduate degree in business or other field is preferred

2.Eighteen years of progressive IT management experience required

3.Ten years of supervisory experience required

4.Requires leadership experience in building, sustaining and improving global IT Delivery services; relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1.Subject matter expertise in applications development and support including requirements gathering and analysis, design, selection of tools and technologies, programming, testing, performance measurement, application and infrastructure tuning, testing and quality assurance, technical training, systems deployment and project management methodologies

2.Subject matter expertise related to supply chain systems, EDI, data center management, network operations, technical services, physical and logical information security, vendor management, capital asset acquisition and maintenance and related activities

3.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior management, corporate and distribution center teammates

4.Capable of identifying emerging technologies and successfully applying them to critical business problems

5.Analytical skills with ability to make decisions with limited information

6.Ability to manage teams across multiple technology related disciplines

7.Ability to serve as champion for multiple projects simultaneously

8.Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

9.Ability to identify opportunities that lead to operational improvements and/or savings

10.Self-starter, can work independently and in a team setting involving multiple departments, partners, and business processes

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

1.Travel up to 50%.
