Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Supervises efficient work procedures, recommendations for on-going process improvement, and coordinates programs to meet billing and collections goals to maximize company cash flow

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1.      Coaches direct reports to improve and effectively increase production.

2.      Answers questions from customers, clerical staff, insurance companies and physician offices.

3.      Makes outbound calls to obtain appropriate documentation for reimbursement of orders shipped.

4.      Identifies and resolves patient complaints.

5.      Documents activities in the Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) in an efficient accurate and timely manner.

6.      Evaluates Explanations of Benefits (EOB)s and makes appropriate adjustments.

7.      Resolves aging claims timely.

8.      Reduces delinquency in assigned accounts.

9.      Determines most effective and economical means of collecting account.

10.  Mentors team members in handling of difficult and complex issues.

11.  Trains on policies and procedures.

12.  Ensures the billing activity is handled correctly.

13.  Edits and resubmits claims for payment.

14.  Prepares and reviews clean claims for submission to various insurances either electronically or by paper.

15.  Insures compliance with all state and federal billing regulations.

16.  Determines most effective and economical means of completing duties.

17.  Develops staff, mentors and provides career coaching, motivates staff individually and as a group.

18.  Assists other staff with difficult and complex issues.

19.  Consistently meets organizational goals.

20.  Completes and tracks all payroll functions in a timely manner.

21.  Develops department and employee goals to enhance performance.

22.  Reviews daily, weekly, and/or monthly reports.

23.  Informs staff of all applicable company changes and information.

24.  Interviews candidates for open positions.

25.  Addresses and resolves a wide variety of concerns and complaints from employees and customers.

26.  Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow.

27.  Addresses performance problems through corrective actions with manager's guidance.

28.  Provides feedback to director regarding identified trends.

29.  Maintains required performance standards.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

  • Performs additional duties as directed.


Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five or more years of experience in the field
  • One year or more of experience in area of supervision of leadership responsibility
  • Supervises the work of individual contributors; typically does not have responsibility for hire, firing, performance appraisals and pay reviews

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to practice proper phone and email etiquette.
  • Ability to understand and utilize different communication styles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor regarding issues that arise.
  • Skilled in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of medical billing and collection practices.
  • Expert in medical terminology and insurances HCPC/ICD-0 codes.
  • Knowledge of computer programs and is proficient in Excel.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Little or no traveling required (less than 10%)
