Responsible for the planning, design, communication and administration of equitable and competitive total cash compensation packages and programs including base pay, incentives, bonuses and sales compensation.  Serves as a partner to the HR community to identify and resolve compensation-related issues. Guides and facilitates conversations on how Owens & Minor's compensation programs can drive /support Owens & Minor's short and long-term success.  Manages short and long-term compensation projects.


1.         Designs and implements competitive salary compensation programs that are internally and externally equitable and cost effective.  Recommends changes in compensation procedures to improve efficiency.

2.         Leads the preparation, communication, and distribution of plan document materials describing the Compensation programs.

3.      Possess a solid knowledge in designing, developing and administering the short and long-term incentive plans. Has experience in working with Finance to develop meaningful scorecards that tie to business drivers.

4.         Develops collaborative partnerships with the HR Business Partner and/or Center of Excellence teams in the creation of compensation programs and strategies.

5.         Leverages the HR community (US, and outside US as needed) in order to ensure that compensation policies and procedures are maintained and communicated to all teammates in a timely and accurate manner.  Provides them guidance and coaching on the application of compensation policies and procedures;  Identifies and makes recommendations to resolve business issues.

6.         Performs salary recommendations and job evaluations for domestic client groups.

7.         Is responsible for the quarterly and annually accruals for Finance. 

8.         Engages in compensation projects, both intra-departmental and cross-functional, including but not limited to:  incentives budgeting, merit planning, survey management and participation, coordination with internal/external auditors, monitors and reports Company adherence to guidelines.

9.         Remains knowledgeable of new developments in the area of Total Compensation program development including tax changes or legal issues and takes action to maintain compliance and facilitate change.

10.     Ensures Company compensation policies are in compliance with government regulations concerning the payment of minimum wages and overtime pay or other with legal requirements such as those required by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Department of Labor and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Finance or Accounting, Business Administration or other related discipline, required
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), preferred
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of compensation experience, required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of incentive design experience
  • Prior experience in a global, matrixed work environment, preferred 


  • Demonstrates compensation knowledge and skills with the ability to translate/adapt concepts to audiences
  • Knowledge of market pricing techniques and systems
  • Familiarity with FLSA, OFCCP, IRS and SEC regulations
  • Knowledge of Workday and/or other HRIS Systems
  • Understanding of stock equity plans
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in written form and verbally
  • Strong Excel and Project Management
  • Ability to research/analyze data, identify problems/deficiencies, and make recommendations for corrective action
  • Ability to interpret contracts and agreements
  • Ability to demonstrate effective planning, organization and project management skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to participate in multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with teammates at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to coach, counsel and influence others; Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
