Job Description



Leads the development, achievement, and expansion of strategic supplier programs that bring incremental margin dollars into Owens & Minor.  Manages partnership programs with traditional Owens & Minor vendors to reduce supply chain costs, increase incremental funding opportunities, and find alternate sources to procure product at prices that are lower than can be procured from traditional vendor funding programs.


1.       Directs and manages team to ensure the achievement of departmental and corporate objectives relevant to budget and strategic requirements.

2.       Responsible for building business relationships with O&M Top Supplier Partners and Key Supply Chain partners (i.e. OTR & LTL carriers, rail, freight forwarders, etc.) to identify profit enhancement opportunities and ensuring supplier performance exceeds O&M standards.

3.       Ensures all contractual documentation is up to date and that funding dollars are collected in a timely manner.

4.       Ensures the accounting of all programs is executed appropriately.

5.       Partners with internal peers to develop and implement programs that will enhance O&M partnerships with suppliers and customers; this could include, but is not limited to, ensuring implementation of procedures by suppliers to reduce costs such as EDI and other industry standard procedures.

6.       Works with Operations on the implementation and utilization of cost reduction income programs.

7.       Determines what vendors should be included in the Non-traditional vendor income programs.  Develops strategies to maximize profit opportunities with the non-traditional vendor base.

8.       Negotiates business terms with all Non-Traditional Vendors.

9.       Ensures monthly execution of all program buying and vendor compliance to all rules associated with the non-traditional vendor funding programs.

10.   Develops and presents ideas to executive management team for review and feedback on project opportunities.

11.   Partners with the Home Office Legal department to effectively administer all supplier programs.


1.       Performs additional duties as directed.


  • Bachelor's Degree required; graduate Degree in related field (Supply Chain Management, Business Administration) preferred
  • Ten (10) or more years' related experience (distribution, supply chain, procurement, finance, etc.)
  • Five (5) years of experience in a management role with direct reports
  • Experience working with international suppliers/manufacturers, and/or in a decentralized complex multinational company highly preferred


  • Strong project management skills, able to define, organize, and manage work expectations
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Thorough understanding of supplier relations/operations management principles
  • Ability to communicate supplier information to all audiences
  • Understanding of distribution operations
  • Ability to analyze, identify and assess alternatives to complex business problems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proven ability to gather and analyze business and financial data and formulate effective plans and targets
  • Proficient at managing multiple and shifting priorities, delivering timely and accurate work products, and responding with a sense of urgency as required
  • Ability to take initiative, identify and define better processes, work with minimal direction, and prioritize time-to- delivery results in a prompt manner
  • Work as part of a wider client facing team, engaging with and influencing client stakeholders on a daily basis - either remotely or on-client sites
  • Delegates tasks as appropriate with strong ability to oversee multiple projects.
  • Proven track record in both written and oral communications, including writing high-level program documents such as policies and procedural documents and effective employee communication plans
  • Proven ability to communicate and influence others at all levels of the organization, customers, and suppliers
