POSITION SUMMARY

 

Assist Supervisors in facilitating the material handling requirements and safety aspects of the Shipping and Distribution areas.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.      Supports the company Quality Policy, Mission Statement and ISO Quality System

2.      Helps organize and prioritize the daily activities of the Shipping and Distribution areas

3.      Assists in coordinating activities of the department in an effort to minimize disruptions to the efficient shipping of products

4.      Assists in conducting SOP training sessions for team and provide cross-training opportunities to meet the needs of team members and the department

5.      Reports to management any employee feedback regarding the execution of job duties

6.      Identifies problems and seeks resolution, including conflict resolution

7.      Supports and maintains a team environment by providing day to day leadership and motivation

8.      Notifies supervisor of any unsafe acts, equipment, or reoccurring error codes

9.      Ensures safety awareness and adherence to all safety policies

10.  Communicates suggestions for improvements in reducing costs and improving quality and customer service

11.  Assists in maintaining the security of the building

12.  Participates in physical inventory count

13.  Provides team leadership to Shipping and Distribution areas.

14.  Trains teammates and directs day-to-day  work activities

15.  Brings complaints and problems to the attention of the Supervisor.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.      Performs additional duties as directed.



Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1.      High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1.      General knowledge of command entry in UNIX or specific operating systems.

2.      Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

3.      Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

4.      Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 

5.      Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

6.      Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

7.      Computer experience preferred. 

8.      Ability to learn and function in a SAP and Microsoft Office environment

9.      Ability to obtain forklift certification, as needed, through company provided training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1.      Fingering:   Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

2.      Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

3.      Active work:  Frequent standing, frequent walking, some sitting, repetitive arm/hand movements, reaching, twisting, lifting regularly up to 50 pounds, occasionally 85 pounds, frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, close vision for quality check of written labels & artwork

4.      Visual Acuity:  Closely viewing in order to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
