POSITION SUMMARY

 

Leads all activities relating to set-up, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, and improvement of Owens & Minor's learning technology globally.  Manages the company's Learning Management System (LMS), applications, customer-facing education website, intranet pages, and other technology tools that support teammate and customer learning needs.  Serves as the main point of contact for the LMS, providing direction and support to teammates across the global business while owning systems upgrades, governance, support processes, and procedures in support of the LMS.  Analyzes learning needs and provides solutions from content providers as well as in house development of materials.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.       Owns and supports the daily utilization and maintenance of Owens & Minor's global Learning Management System and other systems used by the Talent Development Department.

        I.            User Management

a.       Develops and monitors appropriate roles, securities, and permissions associated with LMS access.

b.       Creates LMS governance and equips business team trainers (Operations, Sales, Products, etc.) to leverage the LMS to deliver business unit goals and objectives.

c.       Creates strategies, processes and analyzes trends to ensure resolution of user issues.

      II.            Course Administration

a.       Develops strategies for course creation configurations and curricula. Consults with business and learning partners to ensure learning solutions align with business strategy and system capabilities.

b.       Oversees configuration of new instructor-led courses and curricula.

c.    Facilitates recurring testing for ongoing system upgrades; communicates systems configuration changes.

d.       Creates and owns strategy processes to organize and maintain the LMS content (publishing eLearning content, scheduling course offerings, managing appropriate use of programs curricula and assignment profiles, etc.)

e.       Partners and consults with learning and talent development resources to ensure content is maintained, current, and relevant to business needs.

f.        Drives selection of content and analysis of effectiveness in partnership with the business unit and learning partners.

    III.            Site Administration

a.       Creates a strategy and vision for a 3-5 year plan for the LMS based upon business learning needs, including guidance on upgrade needs/future functionality requirements.

b.       Utilizes Design Thinking (customer back) Methodology to innovate, create, and maintain LMS configuration.  Evaluates and processes new configuration requests to the system.

c.       Collaborates with the business unit and learning partners in management of vendors that interface with the LMS (DDI, Skillsoft and compliance).

d.       Creates and manages strategy and processes that maintain data integrity for the LMS (course codes, descriptions, required information, etc.)

e.       Manages internal notifications and customer-facing communications in collaboration with business unit and learning partners.

f.        Accountable for online course testing, providing support and problem resolution strategies to the business unit or learning partners.

g.       Owns the creation and facilitation of LMS training materials.

    IV.            Reporting

a.       Develops LMS reporting strategy ensuring configuration that best meets the business needs.

b.       Accountable for analyzing data and trends.

      V.            Project Management

a.       Manages projects related to LMS utilizing an agile-like, iterative approach.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Four-year degree in an applicable course of study or equivalent business related experience required
  • Six or more years of training coordination and/or LMS administration experience required
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience highly preferred
  •  Or equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the above requirements
  • Formal training in Learning Management Systems technical support, systems maintenance, and/or course development preferred

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong learning and development skills  - instructional design, content development, eLearning design and virtual instruction
  •  Strong customer support skills including consulting with key stakeholders and business partners
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and analysis skills
  • Understanding of industry measurement standards for learning
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Must be comfortable in a rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to provide first level hardware/software troubleshooting support
  • Demonstrated knowledge of online learning management and reporting systems is strongly preferred
