Job Description



Performs a wide variety of self-directed tasks related to printing. Completes work from requests, procedures, or other written, verbal or electronic instructions. Tasks may include printing of various types of labels, instruction sheets and inserts using Zebra printers. Manages the inventory of labels and ensures labels are available to support on time start of production orders. Works with engineering and quality to develop all new label formats. Performs cycle counts and maintains accurate inventory levels of all materials required for on-time label production. All duties performed in compliance with GMP and the Quality Management System.


1.       Plans and builds to the daily production work schedule, ensuring production goals are met on a daily basis.

2.       Prints labels and inserts, prepares, coordinates, and expedites workflow to accommodate the needs of all production shifts.

3.       Examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to SOP and processes.

4.       Works closely with New Products Department to designs labels and inserts for custom labeling using Graphic Design/Publishing software.

5.       Resolves artwork issues, including proper content, by monitoring specifications and suggesting alternatives for improvement.

6.       Demonstrates awareness and understanding of Regulatory (FDA, ISO, International, and Government) requirements for Labeling. Designs labels that adhere to these requirements. Makes recommendations to maintain compliance with regulatory and policy updates.

7.       Maintains files and controls documents as required by company policy and regulations.

8.       Keeps stock of label room material by tracking and making the appropriate inventory adjustments. Monitors inventory level for reorder, based on demand. Submits purchase orders to procurement for label materials.

9.       Sets up, operates, changes over and adjusts Zebra printers. Troubleshoots equipment and software problems collaborating with the IT and Engineering teams. Resolves artwork issues, including proper content, by monitoring specifications and suggesting alternatives.

10.   Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency. Writes Standard Operating Procedures and Work Cell Instructions for work area.

11.   Uses software programs such as Bartender, Adobe, and Illustrator.

12.   Provides effective training to others on job essentials and operations within the department as needed.

13.   Performs various SAP transactions, timely and accurately.

14.   Generates work order folders as required.

15.   Interfaces and communicates effectively with all groups.

16.   Keeps work area clean, neat and orderly.


  1. Performs additional duties as directed.



  •  High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required
  •  Associate's degree or equivalent, preferred
  •  Internal candidates: 2 or more years of experience as a Senior Packaging Operator or Production Team Auditor or equivalent, required
  •  External candidates: an equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the above requirements


  • Knowledge of Database software; Internet software and MS Office Products Word, Excel & Outlook Express Word Processing software
  • Knowledgeable about Graphic Design and Publishing Software utilized in design and output of graphics, labels, and/or other outputs. Able to make recommendations for software applications for future process improvements. 
  •  Ability to learn and function within a SAP environment
  • Ability to operate and make minor adjustments to with thermal printers, Zebra printers, duplicators, office copier, paper cutter, paper folder and paper jogger.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Strong ability to handle multiple task at the same time

  •  Must have the ability to routinely lift up to 25 pounds
  •  Must have the ability to occasionally lift items weighing 50 pounds
  •  Ability to frequently stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; sit; reach with hands and arms
  •  Exposure to moving mechanical parts is possible
