Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

 

This position will be responsible for working with subject matter experts and Owens & Minor University (OMU) to develop best practice methodologies for training and onboarding.   This will include creation of training aids, demonstrations, samples, and written instructions for production and warehouse functions. This position will monitor the progress of new teammates or newly promoted teammates, ensuring proper guidance and tools are provided for all shifts. The Safety and Training Specialist will provide hands-on training/demonstrations when required and will provide guidance to all teammates as regards their training and development.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.       Conducts or arranges for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for teammates; ensure all training tasks are completed in accordance with relevant standard operating procedures and standards.

2.       Partners with leaders and/or OMU to develop and organize training materials including written or visual aids; as well as technical curriculum programs.

3.       Leverage software tools to track training programs and ensure timely reporting.

4.       Develops qualification and certification programs in conjunction with OMU as needed and maintains existing programs providing recommendations for improvement, as required.

5.       Measures and assesses training effectiveness on a continual basis.

6.       Conducts training needs assessments as needed.

7.       In conjunction with OMU, works with various resources and agencies to leverage available programs to assist with training programs.

8.       Ensures all safety training is timely and effective.

9.       Assesses learning of trainees and reports progress to Managers, as needed.

10.   Administers competency assessments as needed.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.      Performs additional duties as directed.



Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1.      High School Diploma required

2.      Basic computer navigation for online training access and use of applicable databases

3.      Microsoft Office working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1.       Ability to train, coach, and develop others

2.       Good organizational and planning skills

3.       Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily activities

4.       Knowledge of product line and understanding of Standard Operating Procedures

5.       Effective communication skills both written and verbal

6.       Solid problem solving and decision making skills

7.       Strong writing skills

8.       Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills

9.       Previous experience in teaching or training  preferred

10.   Knowledge of adult learning theory



ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1.       Ability to travel up to 30%
