* This position will be remote, but preferred location is West Coast.

Maintains and demonstrates a senior level of proficiency in a business or clinical discipline that is integral to the success of consulting engagements. Leads projects or project initiatives in the business or clinical discipline in which the consultant is proficient.    Responsible for the successful delivery of logistical, clinical, cost management, technology and/or consulting services, in areas such as inventory management/logistics, contract management, value analysis, process design, project management, technology implementations, data collection or analysis implementations and other client related services.  Works on, and at times leads, projects and project-related initiatives as assigned by leadership.  May include the leadership of other Owens & Minor teammates and customer project teams, and/or serving in a formal project management role. Plays a major role in engagements that generate significant annual revenue and/or margin recognition.   


Advanced individual contributor able to perform "above and beyond" expected daily duties.   Typically assumes a team leadership role.

Internally recognized specialist in area of expertise.   Anticipates and operates 'above and beyond' daily job duties.   Show initiative in developing new methods/process improvements.  May champion significant projects and business initiatives.  Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation.  Goals generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms.   Exercises independent judgement in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.  Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.

Generally free to determine work priorities based on general direction from management.   Proactively identifies potential issues and brings potential solutions to managers.  Typically provides a leadership role for the work group through advanced knowledge in his/her area of specialization.

  1. Leads supply chain consulting projects or project initiatives. 
  2. Acts as Subject-Matter-Expert on business or clinical disciplines and instructs other teammates through OMU and other educational avenues when required.
  3. Gathers, researches, analyzes, and evaluates data from a variety of sources to produce strategic and actionable short and long-term project recommendations. Summarizes key findings and conclusions; presents recommendations to key stakeholders including senior executives in O&M or client organizations, including success story documentation.
  4. Responsible for overseeing and/or performing supply chain analytics/analysis, process mapping, data collection or analysis, project status updates, project plan creation, development and other O&M related services.
  5. Leads supply chain assessments and interviews of internal and external customers to identify opportunities for supply chain improvements. Makes and/or presents recommendations to O&M or clients based on industry best practices and/or successfully demonstrated results of similar organizations.
  6. Summarizes and presents work results/outputs to internal and external customers in a formal and informal setting.
  7. Provides remote or on-site services in a support or lead role across multiple initiatives.  In addition, contributes to post-engagement documentation of successes and lessons learned.
  8. Supports and/or leads O&M projects to improve revenue, margin, customer retention, and efficiencies through participation in cross functional teams.
  9. Reports and/or presents project progress against deliverables, quality, cost, team and schedule expectations including providing project status reports to the appropriate project lead.
  10. Initiates and/or contributes to post-engagement project and individual performance review process.
  11. Consistently adheres to use of O&M standardized tools and methodologies.
  12. Provides input to the appropriate teams for the development of O&M tools, methods, and services.
  13. Assists in recruitment and retention of quality O&M teammates.  Educates and develops O&M teammates. 
  14. Monitors, coaches, and educates teammates and client's staff in supply chain processes.
  15. Manages and leads initiatives within the project/engagement structure.
  16. Participates in and/or leads supply chain assessments.  Interviews internal and external customers to identify opportunities for supply chain improvements. Documents supply chain improvement recommendations to project leadership or to clients based on industry best practices and/or successfully demonstrated results of similar organizations.
  17. Potentially serves as Project Manager for consulting engagements, when assigned. This may include responsibility for engagement deliverables, project plans, status updates, and in direct team management.


1.      Performs additional duties as directed.



1.       Bachelor's Degree, RN, or equivalent experience in healthcare logistics, supply chain management, nursing, or related field is preferred

2.       Healthcare supply chain management preferred

3.       LEAN or Six Sigma Certification preferred

4.       Project Management Certification preferred

Typically requires 8+ years' experience of progressively responsible experience in logistics, health care supply chain management, consulting, or nursing services in a progressive and complex environment (e.g. large hospital or multi-hospital system, GPO, or manufacturer) and a specialist degree.


A.      Demonstrated understanding of supply chain management, consulting principles and practices.

B.      Demonstrated competencies in communication, project management, presentation, process design, data analytics, persuasion and negotiation skills as needed to successfully interact with internal and external O&M customers.

C.      Proven ability to identify and communicate opportunities to Center For Excellence project leadership and/or to appropriate internal O&M leadership to expand the scope of existing engagement

D.      Demonstrated ability to manage small consulting engagements and project teams (1-3 teammates), work independently, with internal and external teammates, and with a diverse team.

E.       Proven ability to organize and facilitate multi-disciplinary work teams.

F.       Possess the ability to listen and respond appropriately to customer and co-worker requests, communicate effectively with clients and team members, to clarify understanding, diffuse tense situations, and deliver information effectively.

G.     Ability to research, write and present critical analyses and recommendations relevant to stated subject matter expertise.

H.      Ability to adjust to client preferences regarding the format and style of consulting activities and reports, ability to prepare charts, graphs and written assessments.

I.        Ability to build and maintain relationships with O&M teammates, hospital staff and physicians, and/or manufactures.

J.        Ability to communicate, influence, and persuade others at all levels, to present information in a clear, concise, professional manner.

K.      Demonstrated analytical/PC skills:  Excel, Access, Visio, Value Stream Mapping, word processing, project planning and graphics presentation software.

L.      Where applicable, ability to create and/or modify interfaces
