Job Description

Travels to multiple hospitals/accounts to provide optimum customer service to ensure needs are met, provide problem resolution, and identify MediChoice opportunity. Provides administrative support to Sales Representatives on large accounts.  May independently perform distribution service support at small accounts. Ensures that hospitals needs are acknowledged and addressed.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.          Visits assigned hospitals as needed to determine the customer's need.

 2.          Identifies MediChoice opportunities within assigned accounts and increases penetration.

 3.          Schedules meetings with department heads at hospitals to persuade conversion to Owens & Minor business.

 4.          Schedules meetings with materials managers and buyers to ensure accuracy and timeliness in purchase orders.

 5.          Checks inventory to determine hospital usage levels.

 6.          Researches new products that hospitals are interested in purchasing.

 7.          Prepares cost comparisons for hospitals to justify Owens & Minor distribution.

 8.          Converts new customer's product numbers to Owens & Minor's product numbers.

 9.          Acts as liaison between hospital and manufacturers to ensure accuracy of materials and supplies.

 10.       Acts as liaison between hospital and division department heads to ensure smooth conversion.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

          Performs additional duties as directed.



QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:

          Broad knowledge of a discipline such as finance, sales & marketing, business administration, or distribution preferred.  A 4 year college or university degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Over one year up to and including three years.



EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND WORK AIDS:

          Personal computer, CRT, catalogs, forms, and manuals.

STRENGTH REQUIREMENT:

Handling

Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand. 

Talking

Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.  Talking is important for those activities in which workers must impart oral information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing

Perceiving the nature of sounds.  Hearing is important for those activities which require ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on running engines.
