POSITION SUMMARY

 

Under general supervision, performs corporate accounting functions that support the compilation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.  Interacts with business unit leadership and relevant department staff to ensure proper execution of accounting functions and the accurate reporting of financial results at the business unit level.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1.       Responsible for the overall accuracy and completeness of accounting for assigned department and the corporate office.  Prepares and delivers timely reporting to department and corporate leadership.

2.       Serves as primary liaison to assigned departments' regarding financial results.  Reviews/analyzes financial results for departments.  Communicates with management to understand monthly financial results, prepares variance analyses to budget, prior year, and expectations.  Ensures close coordination with Department Leadership to ensure reporting meets their needs.

3.       Responsible for the overall accuracy and completeness of assigned administrative expense accounting functions for the domestic organization (legal entity accounting, interest allocations, risk management accounting, shared services accounting, corporate cards processes, etc.). 

4.       Reviews/analyzes financial results for administrative expenses for the company.  Prepares variance analyses to budget, prior year, and expectations. 

5.       Oversees Sarbanes Oxley schedule and reconciliation controls, ensuring the accuracy and proper authorization of quarterly audit schedules prior to release of company earnings.

6.       Assists with coordinating monthly and quarterly Home Office review meetings with members of management, providing detailed explanations and analysis of the period's activity.

7.       Assists with the preparation and evaluation of the annual budget.  Ensures tracking systems capture useful operational metrics for use in reducing defects, improving service, and optimizing the implementation process.

8.       Prepares monthly, quarterly and year end roll-forward and audit-support schedules.

9.       Supports the internal and external financial reporting functions.  Develops and promotes automated recovery procedures to minimize downtime.

10.   Drives business process improvement initiatives to streamline the processing of Home Office accounting and other corporate accounting activity.  Provides thought leadership for developing innovative operational tools, which will help promote higher system availability.

11.   Leads special projects and prepares ad hoc requests related to the home office (accounting policy changes, department financial information requests, etc.).

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

1.       Performs additional duties as directed.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:  

  • Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Finance or Accounting required.
  • Two (2) or more years of relevant public or corporate accounting experience required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong accounting technical background (GAAP)
  • Excellent Financial consulting skills (conducting needs analysis, identifying issues, recommending alternatives, implementing change)
  • Ability to manage and implement complex financial projects
  • Strong ability and experience managing and performing multiple concurrent tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial audiences
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial processes and systems.
  • Ability to plan work for self and coordinate with others to meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Ability to travel up to 5%
