Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Handles the most simple verifications of insurance coverage, performs administrative activities associated with maintenance of medical documentation and medical records.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1.      Answers simple questions from customers, clerical staff, insurance companies, and physician offices.  Colleagues that are more senior assist with more complex questions and queries.

2.      Makes outbound calls to request appropriate documentation for reimbursement of orders shipped.

3.      Identifies and resolves simple patient complaints.  Colleagues that are more senior assist with resolution of more complex patient complaints.

4.      Verifies customer benefits via phone, fax, and web portal.

5.      Works toward proficiency with medical terminology and insurances HCPC/ICD-9 codes.

6.      Reviews and approves documentation received by third parties, for submission to payor's.

7.      Documents activities in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in an efficient accurate and timely manner.

8.      Provides feedback to Group Team Lead regarding issues with accounts.

9.      Conducts tasks and assignments as directed.

10.  Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes as guided.

 

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

  • Performs additional duties as directed.


Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

  • Associates Degree required
  • Three or more years of experience preferred
  • Or a combination of education and experience to meet the above requirements

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    

  • Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to practice proper phone and email etiquette
  • Skilled in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
  • Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Knowledgeable of Medical Payor's and requirements for approvals and payments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Little or no traveling required (less than 10%)
  • May need to work extended hours on occasion
