Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Supervises efficient work procedures, recommendations for on-going process improvement, and coordinates programs to meet billing and collections goals to maximize company cash flow.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1.      Coaches direct reports to improve and effectively increase production.

2.      Answers questions from customers, clerical staff, insurance companies and physician offices.

3.      Makes outbound calls to obtain appropriate documentation for reimbursement of orders shipped.

4.      Identifies and resolves patient complaints.

5.      Verifies customer benefits via phone, fax and web portal.

6.      Reviews and approves documentation received by third parties, for submission to payor's.

7.      Documents activities in an efficient and timely manner.

8.      Determines most effective and economical means of completing duties.

9.      Develops staff, mentors and provides career coaching, motivates staff individually and as a group.

10.  Assists other staff with difficult and complex issues.

11.  Consistently meets organizational goals.

12.  Completes and tracks all payroll functions in a timely manner.

13.  Develops department and employee goals to enhance performance.

14.  Reviews daily, weekly, and/or monthly reports.

15.  Informs staff of all applicable company changes and information.

16.  Interviews candidates for open positions.

17.  Addresses and resolves a wide variety of concerns and complaints from employees and customers.

18.  Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow.

19.  Addresses performance problems through corrective actions with manager's guidance.

20.  Provides feedback to director regarding identified trends.

21.  Maintains required performance standards.

22.  Supervises the work of individual contributors.  Assists with management decisions and activities.  Typically does not have responsibility for hire, firing, performance appraisals and pay reviews.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

  • Performs additional duties as directed.


Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five or more years of experience in field
  • One year or more of experience in area of supervision of leadership responsibility

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to practice proper phone and email etiquette.
  • Ability to understand and utilize different communication styles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor regarding issues that arise.
  • Skilled in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledgeable of Medical Payor's and requirements for approvals and payments.
  • Familiar with medical terminology and insurances HCPC/ICD-9 codes.
  • Ability to train on policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer programs and is proficient in Excel.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Little or no traveling required (less than 10%)
  • May work extended hours on occasion
