Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Administers the Sales Tax Certificate process within the Customer Master Data File by securing documentation and maintaining tax certificate data, in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLA).  Troubleshoots sales tax certificate maintenance issues through interfacing with customers or internal Owens & Minor teams. 



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.      Procure and archive customer sales tax certificates for tax exempt customers.

2.      Maintain related fields within the multiple Customer Master Data systems and other exemption certificate maintenance software.

3.      Work with external vendors and contract resources in support of exemption certificate maintenance and renewal.

4.      Track, monitor, and report missing, invalid, or expired certificates.

5.      Perform state and local tax status validation using a variety of online services and research resources.

6.      Support the Corporate Tax team with tax certificates and supporting documentation during audits.

7.      Work as a backup to other positions within the Customer Master data team as assigned.

8.      Works within a shared services environment, with matrix reporting lines to Client Engagement Center leadership and global process leadership.

9.      Collaborates directly with client engagement, purchasing support, and finance operations teammates.  Other direct interactions may include working with the Accounts Receivable, Pricing, Rebates, Accounts payable, Master Data, Corporate Tax, and Invoicing Groups

 Supplemental Job Functions 

1.      Performs additional duties as directed.



Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Broad training equal to two years of college, preferred. 



KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with the Master Data Management and Customer Master Data systems
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Access
  • Ability to multi-task complex customer set-up and maintenance activities
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet designated Service Level Agreements
  • Ability to demonstrate process-orientation and the ability to pay strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to lead a project from within a peer group, sharing responsibilities and coordinating multi-threaded deliverables to drive to a solution
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communications skills, able to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Customer-focused and service-oriented
  • Aptitude for seeking creative solutions to multi-faceted data problems 


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • May be required to work extended hours on occasion
