POSITION SUMMARY

 

Directs supplier-facing Category Management for assigned product categories.  Oversee defining product categorization, prioritization and standardization of new category-specific programs to enhance supplier funding and optimize sales growth within assigned categories.  Develops programs and supports required to deliver enhanced supplier funding based on Owens & Minor's key supplier product portfolio strategy.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1.       Reviews assigned product categories, using clinical and business acumen to develop category-specific programs to increase suppliers' product market share.

2.       Manages and delivers budget and supplier-specific funding and top line growth goals.  Aggregates and produces monthly executive summary reports on the Category Management Teams' progress to annual assigned supplier and product growth and revenue objectives.

3.       Works with senior leadership to refine and properly implement and track category specific product sales and growth initiatives to help drive key supplier branded strategies. 

4.       Works with Sales and Operations Teams to identify opportunities to improve profitability and build competitive healthcare provider offerings.

5.       Analyzes branded product sales performance data to recommend modifications to Owens & Minor's portfolio strategy and product programs.  Looks to consolidate available product offerings to better leverage key branded portfolio partners.

6.       Advises the Supply Management leadership team on strategies and tactics for resolving supplier compliance issues, coordinating with Risk Management and Legal Teams as needed.

7.   Directs new product development and department launch processes.  Collaborates on product implementation approaches with key product stakeholders on a regular basis (both internal and external), providing program updates at the category level as needed.

8.   Evaluates new product and supplier business opportunities based on category driven data and market opportunities.   

9.   Collaborates with key supplier customers around optimizing supplier program development. 

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

1.       Performs additional duties as directed.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor's Degree required; graduate Degree in related field (Marketing, Healthcare, Business Administration) preferred
  • Eight (8) or more years of related experience in the healthcare industry; Four (4) or more years' experience directing Category Management teams
  • In depth knowledge of healthcare products, distribution, and supply chains

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Intimate knowledge of the healthcare products landscape
  • Detailed knowledge of products and product development
  • Ability to engage and develop C-Suite relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (fluency in multiple languages preferred)
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work across departments (Operations, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Inventory Management, etc.) to solicit and obtain input, and the required internal engagement to accomplish organizational objectives
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Extensive international sourcing and private label experience (preferably within Asia)


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Ability to travel up to 20%
