Job Description



Supports the development and delivery of strategic programs, products and services that drive the objectives of the company.  Works collaboratively with senior Owens & Minor management, teammates, provider customers, manufacturers and strategic business partners to develop products and services from the point of conception to product approval and launch to the market.  Accountable for completing projects on-time, within budget, and in a way that achieves Return on Investment (ROI) project goals.


1.       Leads the development of new services and offerings as approved by Senior Leadership that will contribute significantly to the company's gross margin and net income.

2.       Works closely with customers, suppliers and Owens & Minor senior management to identify, define and implement new service offerings. 

3.       Plans and participates in research and development activities for new services or concepts.

4.       Provides guidance in the development of business plans for various business units.

5.       Participates in the translation of the company's long-term strategic objectives into short to mid-term tactical programs.

6.       Partners with internal and external peers to share best practices.  Represents Owens & Minor to external parties, including presentation to key customer groups, conferences and workshops. 

7.       In conjunction with appropriate teammates, designs and documents operational procedures that will support new programs and services identified.

8.       Represents Operations team as active participant in key account strategy sessions to connect the current and new service offerings to customer value and ability to execute.

9.       Participates in service offering definition for key RFP responses.  Assists Finance team to define cost of proposed service offerings.

10.   Manages Resource Management Outsource engagements across US, including responsibility for budgeting, hiring and execution to customer commitments.  Defines and executes new Resource Management Outsource model based on value delivery (instead of activity).

11.   In conjunction with Finance and Analytics, develops and updates operations portion of Cost-to-Serve model inclusive of base and premium services for providers and manufacturers.


1.      Performs additional duties as directed.



  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA preferred
  • Twelve plus years of applicable experience within relevant field (healthcare; supply chain; operations); minimum of four years direct supervisory experience
  • Significant experience in program management
  • In depth training and/or knowledge of supply chain operations in healthcare strongly preferred


  • Possesses strong hands-on program management experience
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Expert resource management and analytical skills
  • Proven track record in technology requirements specification, definition and program development
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to build relationships with all levels of teammates as well as external customers
  • Demonstrated understanding of cost modeling and corresponding impact on financial performance
  • Possesses thorough understanding of the supply chain, as well as the technical needs and opportunities associated with advancing the healthcare supply chain
  • Able to manage a changing environment; ability to work with customers to meet stringent deadlines and perform under stress
  • Ability to instill successful teamwork across units, functions, and customers
  • Proven experience working with senior management teams of large organizations


  • Ability to travel up to 30%
