Job Description



Directs full scope consulting engagements for integrated delivery networks, large healthcare organizations, and teaching/academic hospitals; supports the sales team efforts; provides expertise in Logistics (Strategic SCM Planning, Advanced SCM Logistics, Inventory Peri-operative Re-design, etc.) Clinical Services (Preference Card Management, Physician Engagement, New Technology Assessment, etc.) and Cost Management (Value Analysis, Purchased Services, etc.); manages all teammates as assigned.  Manages multiple, complex engagements ensuring on-time delivery of services, maintenance of expenses within budget, and delivery of projected revenue goals.   


1.       Collaboratively supports sales teammates in the assessment, design and delivery of revenue generating consulting engagements.

2.       Engages client's executive and management staff to reinforce the relationships created in the sales process; communicates and builds levels of credibility and trust that support the delivery of consulting engagement commitments; creates an environment that supports an expanded client relationship.

3.       Directs consulting engagements within the logistics, clinical, and/or cost management practices. Assesses and recommends operational and process related changes to enhance and support the sustainability of programs implemented.  Communicates with client sponsors regarding milestone and goal achievement, roadblocks to success and recommendations to mitigate engagement challenges. 

4.       Provides leadership and direction to project teams; responsible for implementation planning, milestone and goal achievement, mitigation of engagement challenges, as well as profitability reporting to management.

5.       Effectively recruits, manages, motivates, develops and retains teammates that enhance the function's ability to strive for excellence in the Healthcare SCM consulting profession. Assesses and recommends adjustments to teammate assignments to efficiently and effectively deliver results. 

6.       Acts as Subject-Matter-Expert on consulting processes and contributes to the development of tools and materials to support delivery of consulting services and other programs. 

7.       Supports development of and provides content for training tools for consulting teammate's use and development, participates in internal and external education programs (i.e. AORN, AHRMM, etc.) as trainers/presenters.

8.       Adheres to and assures that teammates are trained on practice guidelines, including (but not limited to) expense reporting and time management, project management and spend analytic tools, financial reporting, confidentiality, and record retention.

9.       Administers/monitors approved accounting practices to ensure financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control operations. Ensures all practices and procedures comply with audit requirements and meet operational standards.

10.   Collaborates on project planning and staff scheduling to ensure leverage of resources.

11.   Achieves minimum engagement metrics set at the beginning of each engagement such as: managing expenses to budget expectations of customer(s); managing deliverables to expectations of customer; tracking progress toward customer goals and reporting issues and concerns to customers in a timely manner; creating and tracking a revenue and expense plan; and pursuing outstanding accounts receivables balances should they occur.


1.      Performs additional duties as directed. 



  • Four year university degree required; Master's Degree preferred
  • Five or more years senior level experience in health care supply chain consulting services, or ten or more years of senior level experience in health care supply chain management
  • Ten or more years of direct supervisory experience
  • In depth knowledge of best supply chain/logistics best practices and strategies
  • International experience/exposure is highly preferred


  • Demonstrates an exceptional understanding of health care supply chain consulting principles and practices
  • Demonstrated competencies in a project management tool
  • Strong communication skills; possesses persuasion and negotiation skills needed to successfully interact with executives in a customer setting
  • Demonstrates ability to expand the scope of existing engagements to increase revenue
  • Ability to direct multiple engagements and consulting project teams  Demonstrated capability of supporting sales of both add-on consulting engagements to existing customers as well as full-scope engagements to new customers
  • Demonstrated ability to direct engagements that improve customer financial performance in excess of $5 million annually; ability to deliver on complex gain share and guarantee agreements
  • Ability to manage multiple layers of direct reports from individual contributor professionals to managers. 
  • Ability to make autonomous decisions


  • Ability to travel up to 80%
  • Ability to work extended hours on occasion
