POSITION SUMMARY

 

Advances the organization's vision for Supplier Diversity by providing counsel and guidance on supplier diversity matters. Assists leadership with the implementation and management the O&M Supplier Diversity Initiative.   Serves as a customer advocate of diverse supplier usage helping clients capture and maximize their diverse healthcare supply chain goals. Serves as a liaison between OMI and diverse supplier advocacy groups.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1.       Effectively represents Owens & Minor to suppliers, peer companies, community representatives and supplier diversity advocacy organizations. Engages leaders in key organizations (non-profits, university, federal and state government agencies, etc.) in order to support the Owens & Minor capacity building efforts with diverse suppliers on a regional and national basis.

2.       Directly interacts with internal/external leadership to promote direct and indirect supply chain diversity while maintaining a supportive environment; advises senior management on key legislative and regulatory developments pertaining to supplier diversity.

3.       Works with the sales force to promote the strategic competitive advantage of the O&M supplier diversity solutions.

4.       Develops and maintains a portfolio of "best-in-class" diverse suppliers for O&M products and services; provides internal exposure of identified suppliers.

5.       Works closely with category management and sourcing to establish strategies, identify qualified suppliers and achieve specific quantitative targets regarding spend with diverse suppliers.

6.       Notifies direct and indirect procurement and end users about opportunities to include diverse suppliers in the competitive bidding process. Establishes and reports metrics.

7.       Promotes and helps coordinate the annual O&M Healthcare Diversity Symposium.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

1.      Performs additional duties as directed. 



Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's Degree preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of the healthcare supply chain preferred
  • Five or more years of applicable experience required
  • Program Management certification/ training preferred
  • International supplier experience/exposure is highly preferred

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and problem solving ability
  • Expert PC skills to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint and preferably Access experience
  • Ability to conduct difficult, complex, independent analysis
  • Ability to review, revise, implement and communicate changes to existing policies, procedures, and systems
  • Ability to handle multiple, concurrent tasks and work independently
  • Negotiates skillfully, anticipating reactions and planning strategically to overcome objections


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to work extended hours on occasion
