Job Description



Provides comprehensive executive-level administrative support to Corporate SVP of Human Resources and Owens & Minor Human Resources staff including:  managing various award programs; acting as independent project manager to direct and coordinate confidential HR initiatives; preparing highly sensitive Board materials for the Compensation Committee; and providing comprehensive day-to-day support for the Corporate SVP of Human Resources.


1.       Acts as confidential executive assistant to Corporate SVP of Human Resources; VP, Global Staffing & Organizational Effectiveness;  and Human Resources staff, exercising sound judgment to preserve the confidentiality of information related to the organization and teammates.   Exercises professional discretion to assist with and coordinate confidential and/or sensitive matters; provides explanation and support where needed.

2.       Manages and maintains professional schedules for Corporate SVP of Human Resources , VP, Global Staffing & Organizational Effectiveness, and other senior HR personnel, requiring independent professional interaction with both internal and external executives and assistants, as well as third-party consultants, to coordinate a variety of complex meetings.

3.       Acts independently to perform administrative support functions for Corporate SVP of Human Resources; Operating VP, Global Staffing & Organizational Effectiveness;  and Human Resources staff including: providing telephone coverage, coordinating travel arrangements, managing calendars and scheduling, processing expense reports and vendor invoices, and maintaining payment records for external professional fees and services.

4.       Assists with preparation of sensitive and often highly confidential materials for the Compensation Committee of the Board, internal presentations and conferences.  Assists with drafting and preparing resolutions for Compensation Committee's approval and consent.

5.       Manages the Service Award Program for Owens & Minor teammates to ensure accurate implementation across the organization.

6.       Acts independently as Project Manager for significant and confidential HR project work, to include, for example, managing executive search firms engaged to identify and recruit candidates for executive level positions.

7.       Prepares executive-level offer letters; corresponds with executive-level candidates throughout the hiring process.

8.       Coordinates and participates in the Teammate Engagement Survey process.

9.       Manages Teammate Orientation Program schedule for new teammates weekly.

10.   Receives highly confidential Ethics Reports sent from Legal and manages investigation process in collaboration with HR Generalists to ensure all reports are properly investigated and resolved.

11.   Organizes and facilitates Human Resource Department activities, events and meetings.


1.       Performs additional duties as directed.



1.       Bachelor's Degree from four year college or university; at least five years' experience as an Executive Assistant or Administrative Assistant for Human Resources function

2.       Knowledge of Human Resource practices and terminology


1.       Ability to meet negotiated deadlines, anticipate needs, demonstrate initiative and independently complete tasks.

2.       Must utilize expert administrative skills to create quality documentation

3.       Ability to act professionally and independently, with minimal supervision, to coordinate and assist in the implementation of HR initiatives and projects.

4.       Consistent ability to produce work without errors.

5.       Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work and interact effectively with senior executive leadership and mid-level leadership.

6.       Able to efficiently and effectively operate PC and other office equipment in preparing, editing and distributing various administrative documents and correspondence.

7.       Exercise sound independent judgment in fast-paced professional environment to effectively establish work priorities, plan and organize workload, and execute effectively despite competing demands for time and resources.

8.       Demonstrated ability to work within deadlines and handle emergent situations calmly, effectively and professionally.

9.       High degree of personal integrity, and demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and function independently

10.  Ability to handle multiple projects with competing demands and frequently shifting priorities.
