Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Performs accounting and analysis functions that support the compilation of accurate monthly, quarterly and annual strategic business unit (SBU) financial data and the development of management reporting.  Under general supervision, applies principles of financial analysis and financial consulting to develop, implement and administer financial systems and procedures that provide pro-active, detailed, accurate and informative financial/accounting data and services.  Collaborates with internal teams including Controllers, Financial Operations, treasury, Tax and Human Resources in fulfilling duties.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.          Responsible for accounting for monthly SBU results, consolidation accounting and business reviews.  Researches variances to budget and prior-year and communicates to management in written and verbal formats.

2.          Communicates and provides monthly financial closing support to SBU through monthly closing checklists, preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger review and variance analyses.  Interacts with SBU teammates to enhance reliability and completeness of the business' financial results and projections.  

3.          Collaborates with Controllers, Financial Operations, Treasury, Tax, Human Resources and manufacturing business partners in fulfilling duties.  

4.          Prepares journal entries and related schedules for consolidation, intercompany transactions and other matters as required.

5.          Supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for executives, board of directors and other members of management.

6.          Supports the preparation of SEC filings, such as forms 10-K and 10-Q, including financial statements, footnotes and Management's Discussion & Analysis (MD&A).  Compiles and/or prepares support for financial statement footnotes and other included financial disclosures.  Assists in statutory accounting and related filings, including preparing benefit plan financial statements.

7.          Performs research on various accounting issues that arise in the normal course of business and interprets and documents the impact on the company.  Assists in identifying new or emerging accounting and financial reporting issues.  Researches issues and recommends implementation actions, as needed.

8.          Participates in audits and examinations performed by external and internal auditors.

9.          Performs additional duties as directed, including, but not limited to, financial analyses as required to provide decision-making information to senior and operational management.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1.          Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline, required.

2.          Certified Public Accountant (CPA), required.

3.          Minimum three (3) years of work experience in Finance, Analysis or Planning roles, required.

4.         Experience in Public Accounting, preferred.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1.          Strong financial analysis skills including knowledge of financial business plans, processes and systems.

2.          Demonstrated success in problem-solving though the use of data and information metrics and improvement to performance processes.

3.          Strong accounting technical background (GAAP) including inventory cost accounting, intercompany transactions and foreign exchange accounting.

4.          Ability to write reports, business correspondence and/or procedure manuals.

5.          Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.  Able to communicate financial concepts to non-financial audiences.

6.          Excellent planning, time management, collaboration, decision making, organization, presentation, negotiating and financial consulting skills.

7.          Ability to work independently and as part of a team including the ability to plan work for self and coordinate with others to meet multiple, simultaneous deadlines.

8.          Proficiency in Microsoft Office and job specific software applications (Oracle ERP, SAP ERP and Hyperion).
