Job Description


Performs difficult financial analyses that cross all financial operations disciplines.  Performs data research which will include interaction with customers and suppliers on complex and challenging data interchanges on product cross references and price match data.  Develops models that will align Customer Pricing and Product Setups between Owens & Minor and hospital systems and will identify correlation between Accounts Receivables (A/R) and Supplier Rebate issues to enable resolution of end-to-end data and process issues causing financial exposure.   Works closely with each financial operations global/domestic process leader to develop ongoing data for each of their disciplines.   Mentors junior analysts in development of data analytics.  Prevents discrepancies/errors by highlighting and potentially updating/correcting data in internal systems; identifies opportunities for and collaborates with internal and external partners on implementing process improvements.


1.                   Creates reporting to support master data management (MDM), including product cross-reference, product master file, and customer master file.  Collects business requirements, coordinates development, and determines business process for the continued use of that reporting.

2.                   Proactively identifies MDM issues which cause recurring issues within the order-to-cash process, and works with internal and external teams to correct those issues.

3.                   Supports ad hoc MDM projects, including new customer implementations, go-live for new master data fields, and mass uploads/changes.

4.                   Updates and maintains A/R Statistical Reporting.

5.                   Develops a dashboard of A/P metrics to understand status by teammate and by supplier:  invoices processed; match rates; past due invoices; unvouchered receipts; today's queue/backlog, exception rates, etc.

6.                   Develops analytics to compare A/R data to Rebate data.

7.                   Facilitates process automation as a liaison between business users and automation programmers.

8.                   Collaborates with business users to develop team performance and other metrics such as analytics to compare A/R data to Rebate data.

9.                   Prepares purchase order (PO) variance reporting and analyzes results; collaborates with business users to implement appropriate changes based on analysis.

10.               Provides guidance to junior analysts enabling them to learn skills in order to support volume of analytical needs.

11.               Resolves complex issues independently; utilizes creative problem solving and critical thinking to develop alternative solutions.

12.               Comprehends complex customer system structures for product, pricing, and customer setup structures to present effective solutions.

13.               Works with monthly rebate/chargeback discrepancy reports submitted from trading partners to look for automation and formatting changes to enable streamlined data flow.

14.               Gains knowledge of partners' systems and processes to ensure optimal efficiencies.

15.               Determines how to best coordinate data using working knowledge of advanced analytical tools such as MS Excel, MS Access, Business Objects, Oracle, SAP, and other O&M systems.

16.               Prepares complex analytical reporting for management and for Trading Partners.

17.               Serves as the senior project data lead on designated special projects.


1.    Performs additional duties as directed.



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a business-related focus required
  • Eight or more years of experience as an analyst required
  • Experience in SAP and/or Vistex preferred
  • Intermediate to Advanced Skills in Microsoft Excel (formulas, analytics) required
  • Experience in medical distribution systems and processes preferred 


  • Demonstrated track record of consistently delivering superior results for solving complex data issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate persuasively and to present complex information effectively
  • Able to independently research and resolve complex issues
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures
  • Ability to operate office equipment (such as personal computers) and use software (such as MS Outlook, Advance Excel, Access, Word or other Windows platform software)
  • Utilizes excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks within deadlines


  • May work extended hours on occasion to meet deadlines
  • Travels to customers and suppliers to work with their systems and data analysts
