Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Supervises and manages the daily operations of an Owens & Minor's Forward Stocking Location (FSL).  Controls inbound/outbound assembly and inspection of orthopedic surgery sets; ensures the accurate, timely delivery of requests sets/implants/devices; establishes par levels of sets/products and manages inventory appropriately.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1.       Manages FSL operations:  check in, inspection, assembly, shipping, tracking, returns and decontamination.

2.       Leads FSL team in the coordination of daily workload activities and ensuring instrument set, implant or medical device orders ship to meet the customer's request dates and times.

3.       Accomplishes monthly productivity/quality goals through effective and efficient use of resources.

4.       Establishes processes and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and other quality/regulatory protocols.

5.       Ensures all company protocols are followed and policies are administered accurately and consistently.

6.       Leads FSL operations in implementing Lean principles for continuous process improvement.

7.       Works with non-FSL teammates and management to ensure coordination of warehouse activities.

8.       Screens and hires FSL teammates; ensures teammates receive the appropriate training for their role and ensures the efficient and safe handling of product.

9.       Conducts performance reviews and recommends or initiates personnel actions (promotions, transfers, discharges, disciplinary actions, etc.) as required

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

1.      Performs additional duties as directed.



Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

1.      High School diploma required; Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred

2.      Three or more years of supervisory experience or managing a service, distribution, quality or supply chain function in a medical device distributor or hospital environment required

3.      Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1.       Strong people management and development skills

2.       Working experience in assembling sets or kits

3.       Experience with inventory tracking systems

4.       Excellent organizational and problem solving skills

5.       Excellent oral and written communication skills

6.       Experience and/or working knowledge of orthopedic set loaner program a plus.

7.       Experience with Red Prairie and iTraycer systems is preferred
