Job Description



The Contract Analyst is responsible for driving all contract support activities, from initial discussions through implementation of contracts and execution.  Tracking of performance will also be a part of this responsibility.  The Contract Analyst will be responsible as the primary owner of the contract process for administering and successfully managing assigned GPO/IDN contracts. 


1.      Collaborate with Strategic Business Units, Executive Healthcare Services, Marketing, Sales, IT, Finance, and other business partners in supporting strategy for our GPO and IDN customers. 

2.      Be familiar with legal and business issues associated with typical arrangements to best support business and provide any necessary guidance to achieve most preferred contract terms and language.

3.      Develop, redline and administer proposals and related amendments utilizing both corporate and customer templates

4.      Ensure that all contracts maintain corporate standards through all phases of contract negotiation and full execution.  Any non-standard items requested by the customer will be escalated through the proper channels.

5.      Manage contracts through the Contract Management Tool (Vistex/SAP/Sharepoint) to ensure that all required documentation, approvals and executed agreements are received.

6.      Create and extract reports and dashboards from the Contract Management Tool (Vistex/SAP/Sharepoint) displaying key performance indicators on both won and lost contract opportunities as well as forecasting of price escalators and other key contract provisions.

7.      Proactively manage contract renewal, consolidation and reconciliation efforts.

8.      Identify areas of improvement and implement or recommend changes to improve contracts.

9.      Participate as requested in the formation/negotiation of new contracts

10.  Act as an internal and external single point of contact for all formal and legal correspondence related to GPO/IDN contracts.

11.  Prioritize special projects by required timelines, meeting and exceeding current metrics established in department.

12.  Assist Executive HealthCare Services and/or Strategic Business Units with annual contract pricing reviews and implementation of contract changes.

13.  Coordinate Contract launch/training and tracking, materials, update templates and processes as needed by the changing business needs.

14.  Analytical support using a variety of internal and external data sources to provide customer metrics relative to contracts and overall business.


1.      Performs additional duties as directed.



1.      Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) or Master's Degree (MBA)

2.      At least 5 years of contract experience, including the creation and quality control of contracts


1.      Ability to communicate extemporaneously to senior leadership and prepare ad hoc reports and presentations

2.      Knowledge of Healthcare Industry preferred but not required

8.      Must have the ability to identify business issues and the corresponding problems that these issues represent, possess excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills coupled with strong business ethics

9.      Organized, detail-oriented, very analytical individual, willing to engage with both junior and senior level management across many departments

10.  Strong Excel skills are essential

11.  Proficiency in SAP is preferred as daily use of SAP may be required in this position
