Job Description

Managesimplementation and support of all non-income tax systems.  Acts as liaison between Tax Team, Fixed AssetAccounting Team, Supplier Relations Team, and other teams/divisions.  Maintains integrity of fixed asset recordsfor reporting and compliance purposes. Recommends changes in methods orprocedures to improve efficiency of non-income tax functions.  Manages Business Tax audits, including auditresearch and  compliance issues. Updatestax systems to match laws and regulations resulting from audit. Maintainsproduct database for accurate reflection of product categorization. Supervisesjunior teammate(s) on product categorization, audit work and research issues,as needed.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



TAX DEPARTMENT SYSTEMS

  1. Manages development, enhancement, implementation andmaintenance of all aspects of Fixed Asset and Personal Property Tax compliancecomputer systems. Coordinates with the business tax team to maximize theefficient use of various systems.
  2. Manages the maintenance of sales tax system, with heavyemphasis on tax rate accuracy. Coordinates with sales tax team to maximize the efficienciesin sales tax compliance. Maintains/updates decision-maker module to ensureaccurate taxation of customer invoices.
  3. Assists with the development and  implementation of Business Tax systemenhancements and upgrades when initiated. Assists with the testing andconsistency of modifications to ensure accuracy.
  4. Serves as Tax Department liaison in relation to the FixedAsset Accounting Team, Supplier Relations Team , and other corporateteams/divisions on Business Tax computer systems initiatives.
  5. Coordinates and administers Tax systems training forteammates regarding Property Tax system. Maintains administrative rights toonline research system.
  6. Updates Tax systems in conjunction with changes in taxlaws and regulations.
  7.  Coordinates the integration of non-income Tax Teamprocedures into tax systems in support of Tax compliance policies andinitiatives.
  8. Implements non-income Tax Team process improvements tofacilitate data accuracy and timeliness.
  9. Ensures non-income Tax systems technology meetsfunctional objectives, specifications, and operational standards in conjunctionwith Manager, Tax Systems.
  10. Maintains integrity of fixed asset records for reportingand compliance purposes. Assists with fixed asset depreciation calculations andprovides necessary reports for Income Tax compliance.
  11. Maintains product database for accurate reflection ofproduct categorizations.
  12. Assists with development of new procedures and policiesto maximize efficient use of Business Tax software systems and interfaces.
  13. Prepares system data upload for product categorizationupdates to ensure product management file accuracy.


AUDITS

  1. Manages all computer-assisted audits for non-income taxareas including sales/use, tangible property and business license taxes. Researchlaws relating to complex audit issues.
  2. Generates system details relating to formal audit protestrequirements, as needed.
  3. Assists Director with updating Vertex Tax systemregarding any areas of noted audit deficiencies.
  4. Consults with and advises teammates on various auditissues, as requested.

COMPLIANCE

  1. Conductstax research and analysis relating to the preparation of Personal Property Tax returns.
  2. Maintainsproperty tax system for the reporting of all tangible personal property.Provides support to Fixed Asset Manager for accurately recording and reportingof all owned capital assets.
  3. Supervisesproduct categorization teammate to ensure accurate and timely updates ofproduct related system data. Provides guidance to Business Tax team regardingpersonal property tax, audit and tax rate compliance issues.

TAX PLANNING AND BUDGETING

  1.  Assistswith assigned projects involving research and planning to minimize theCompanys  state and local tax burdens,including working with consultants as needed.
  2. Preparesannual sales tax reserve budget using data downloads and systems information.Analyzes audit history to make necessary adjustments.

TAX ACCOUNTING

  1. Assistsin complying with accounting for non-income taxes including property taxpreparation, fixed asset maintenance, and tax account analysis andreconciliation.


SPECIAL PROJECTS

  1. AssistsTax Systems Manager with specific system needs relating toselection/implementation of Tax systems.
  2. Assistswith special tax savings implementations, as they are developed.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performsadditional tax duties as requested.
  2. Leads tax teammates as required/requestedon projects as described above.


QUALIFICATIONS:

          TRAINING & EDUCATION:

                   Four-yearundergraduate degree required.  CPA preferred.

          WORK EXPERIENCE:

                   At least five years (up toand including) seven years.
