Job Description


Responsible for day-to-day management of assigned GPO, including execution of contract terms and conditions with the customer and the O & M field Teammates.  Provides personal representation on a regularly scheduled basis to develop knowledgeable and productive business relationships with GPO personnel.  Promotes Owens & Minor's value-added products and services which help to drive sales growth and profitability.


1.       Develops knowledgeable and productive business relationships with support of national intra-regional groups.

2.      Manages day-to-day relationship with relevant counterpart(s) to ensure high customer satisfaction and distribution loyalty.  Has periodic business reviews with customers.

3.      Makes regularly scheduled visits to assigned strategic account(s).

4.      Supports responses to RFPs.  Solicits/coordinates information from Operating Vice President and Area Vice Presidents for inclusion in proposal responses.  Coordinates with other functional areas within the Company to improve upon the content and presentation.

5.      Coordinates the flow of Corporate account sales information throughout the O & M network.

6.      Trains and oversees the field account representatives and coordinators on daily service requirements, per contract.

7.      Responsible for coordinating the preparation of business reviews with the Operating Vice President of Corporate Accounts.

8.      Provides collaboration on budgeting process to Operating Vice President of Corporate Accounts, as to the structure and implementation for account activity.

9.      Coordinates with I/S on any system enhancements to promote improved reporting capabilities and means to manipulate data for customized reports.

10.  Demonstrates exceptionally strong proficiency in the use of WISDOM/DSS.

11.  Has strong working knowledge of O & M systems, including OMNI and OMNI2.

12.  Distributes new business leads to field sales team.

            Travel is required (carries pager when traveling).

            Perceiving the nature of sounds.  Hearing is important for those activities which require ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on running engines. 


            A.        EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:

                        Broad knowledge of a discipline such as chemical, distribution, electrical, or mechanical engineering, behavioral science, finance or business administration.  Four year degree required.

            B.        WORK EXPERIENCE:

                        Over three years (up to and including) five years.

            C.        KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

      •   Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      •   Ability to meet stringent deadlines and perform under stress.
      •   Ability to work with limited supervision.
      •   Ability to plan, organize and lead teammates at all levels.
      •   Ability to deliver effective presentations and facilitate discussions with large or small audiences.
      •   Good computer skills(Word, Excel, Power Point, Business Objects, Access, Outlook, OMNI).
