Job Description



Leads Owens & Minor's Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) operations and Data Operations Team.  Oversees and operates the organization's cloud-based data platform and pipelines, including supporting key trading partners, and fostering trading partner relationships.  Facilitates continuous collaboration with department leaders to develop electronic transaction strategies that align with business requirements, goals, and initiatives.  Manages trading partner/clearinghouse strategies (selection, orientation, development, retention, etc.).  Leads process/systems selection and enhancement, and manages best practices in secure electronic transmission technology.  Supports monitoring and leading EDI SLA performance through various statistical and reporting methodologies.


1.       Manages and leads the Data Operations Team (EDI and Pipeline), including data acquisition, EDI and Pipeline transaction support, quality assurance, implementation support, and workflow management.

2.       Leads the hiring, training, development, and organization of Data Operations Teammates.

3.       Provides accurate and timely IT project status to and coordinates enterprise activities and scope with the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) and other project managers.

4.       Manages service level performance for trading partners in accordance with corresponding trading partner agreements.

5.       Supports trading partner management, including onboarding, continued support, and sunset transitions.

6.       Manages data reconciliations between business partners' data and internal databases.

7.       Assists in providing overall strategy for new electronic transaction formats.

8.       Prepares metric dashboards and status reports for Monthly Operation Review Meetings.

9.      Leads other EDI and general IT projects as assigned.


  1. Performs additional duties as directed.


  • Bachelor's Degree required; concentration in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Information Security highly preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of EDI Operations Management experience
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in healthcare operations or healthcare IT departments preferred
  • EDI and/or PMI professional certifications preferred


  • Technical experience with EDI tool/mapping transaction technologies with specific experience with EZCAP/BizTalk/Logic Apps platforms
  • Must be familiar with HIPAA 5010 Transaction sets (834, 835, 837, 820, 270, 271, 276, 277, 278) and Clinical HL7 (ADT, CCD, CDA, etc.)
  • Project management skills and training
  • Vendor management and/or clearing house relationship management experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to build, coach and lead a team

  • Solid technical foundation, flexibility, ability and a passion for seeking and learning new technologies
