POSITION SUMMARY

 

Develops and drives differentiated talent assessment, performance management, engagement, and career pathing strategies for Owens & Minor.  Collaborates with leadership teams and HR Business Partners to create and develop highly engaged, high performance teams.  In partnership with other HR teammates, identifies both key talent gaps and the talent required to drive business success.  Builds a consistent set of tools, plans, and timetables to close talent gaps and ensure they are integrated with the organization's strategic and business plans.  Develops a clear understanding of Owens & Minor's current and future business strategies, and develops, implements, and sustains behavior where performance requirements, talent assessments, and career development paths are clear and supported.  



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1.       Develops and manages Owens & Minor's Talent Management roadmap and work portfolio (Performance Management, Internal Mobility, Succession, Coaching, Competency Models, Talent Selection Criteria).

2.       Creates integrated organizational effectiveness strategies and initiatives, delivering organizational design consultation during business planning and/or business issue resolution.  Creates communication and change management plans in support of defined programs, taking into account the organization`s current state and readiness for change.  Effectively leverages Organizational Effectiveness, Talent Management Practices, Learning & Development, Management Systems and other HR frameworks, processes and tools.

3.       Communicates integrated talent strategies and plans to all levels of the organization in a clear, concise, and thoughtful way to inspire confidence, alignment, and engagement.

4.       Provides subject matter expertise and support in the design, development, and implementation of talent review processes aimed at achieving business goals and results in the creation of an internal bench of top talent.

5.       Collects, analyzes, and maintains talent management data to inform targeted leadership development (e.g., internal mobility and succession planning).

6.       Develops, initiates, and maintains effective workforce retention, promotion, and succession planning programs.

7.       Manages the maintenance and execution of Owens & Minor's performance management system, including standards of performance and performance evaluation instruments.

8.       Focuses and aligns organization-wide talent management and Performance Management initiatives on improving operational and program efficiencies and effectiveness.

9.       Working closely with the HR Operations teams, collects and coordinate aggregate data for the internal talent pool.  Translates that data into insights through data analysis that drives deliberate action plans at the appropriate levels.

10.   Collaborates with Learning & Development and Talent Acquisition strategic partners to understand their programs, identify interlocks, and maintain alignment.

11.   Partners with HR Business Partners to understand the overall business, client groups and strategic business objectives, in order to ensure prioritized work aligns with their business roadmaps.

12.   Provides strategic consultation on organizational process standardization and improvements.

13.   Successfully manages and drives complex projects through their full project management lifecycles.

14.   Works with a various stakeholders across the global organization to leverage and share best practices.

15.   Identifies and addresses organizational risks when talent management solutions are proposed.

16.   Partners with HR teammates to identify other areas that can drive alignment to key organizational initiatives, focusing on providing an excellent employee experience, maintaining operational excellence, and simplification.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • Four year university degree required; Masters Degree preferred
  • Minimum of ten years broad HR experience including talent management, program and performance management
  • Experience designing, developing, and supporting organization-wide talent management programs (performance management, talent development, coaching, succession planning, data analytics, relationship management, etc.)
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification highly preferred
  • Or any combination of education and experience to meet the above requirements

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Robust understanding of and ability to fully utilize the portfolio of PM tools and documents such as: charters, kick-off meetings, issues logs, project plans and more.
  • Experience in capturing metrics and producing various employment reports. Knowledge of Workday a plus.
  • Strong business acumen with a track record of success in consulting with senior leadership
  • Strong ability to anticipate future needs of the organization
  • Demonstrated capabilities in process design, organizational effectiveness and change management practices, tools, and techniques
  • Strong influencing and facilitation skills
  • Ability to build and use influence in a matrixed environment in order to drive and manage projects and motivate teammates
  • Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively to accomplish assignments and lead team members an partner to ensure integrated execution of deliverables
  • Excellent project leadership and management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage projects from inception through completion
  • Manages time and resources effectively through strong organization, prioritization, delegation, time management, and project management skills
  • Strong ability to set and carry out goals, working effectively during times of transition and function as a change leader/driver by helping others embrace and adjust to change
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret, translate, and statistically analyze data, effectively reporting key trends through written or graphical formats
  • Possess strong ability to maintain confidential information
