Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Gathers and distributes materials within the distribution center.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.      Reads production schedule and work order to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.

2.      Conveys materials and items from receiving or storage to production or staging areas or to other designated areas.

3.      Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.

4.      Marks materials with identifying information.

5.      Opens bales, crates, and other containers.

6.      Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.

7.      Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.

8.      Uses computer to enter records.

9.      Maintains inventory records.

10.  Adheres to all quality measures by accurately picking and communicating lot numbers and expiration dates.

11.  Drives forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to production for assembly.

12.  Performs daily equipment inspection and changes battery as needed.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.      Performs additional duties as directed.



Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1.      High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2.      Forklift experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1.      Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations.

2.      Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

3.      Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 

4.      Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

5.      Computer experience preferred.  Ability to learn and function in a SAP and Microsoft Office environment          

6.      Ability to obtain forklift certification

1.      Inside working conditions.

2.      No environmental hazards indicated for this role.

3.      10% travel for on-site visits and/or training.

4.      Wears and responds to beeper.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1.      Fingering:   Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

2.   Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.  Frequent standing, frequent walking, some sitting, repetitive arm/hand movements, reaching, twisting, lifting regularly up to 50 pounds, occasionally 100 pounds, frequent bending, stooping, pushing,  and pulling.

3.      Visual Acuity:  Closely viewing in order to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; quality check of written labels & artwork; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
