Job Description



The person in this position must be knowledgeable in all aspects of the receiving functions.


1.      Receives incoming product; verifies inventory shipments; correctly tags and files inventory into proper locations; performs inventory auditing and general warehouse maintenance; delivers product and other items.

2.      Reads packing lists and determines the number of cartons for each purchase order from each vendor.

3.      Verifies Bills of Lading (BOL) and documents products received by comparing order lists to the items received; completes receiving tickets; ensures correctness of information and weights.

4.      Unloads items and materials from trucks by hand, pallet jack or sit down forklifts.

5.      Opens boxes, accounts for and verifies received items against Purchase Orders.

6.      Assists in the Customer Service process by filing and staging products that are coded on the General Ledger to make them available for shipping to vendors and hospitals.

7.      Follows the First In - First Out (FIFO) method to audit product quality by inspecting and flagging discrepancies and placing defective products on the deviation shelf.

8.      Delivers items to requisitioning departments and obtains signature for boxes or packages that are properly delivered.

9.      Fills out domestic and international waybills.

10.  Maintains the department database, prepares shipping reports and records.

11.  Follows established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, and ensures a safe working environment.


1.      Performs additional duties as directed.



1.      High school diploma or GED and/or one to two years of experience as a material handler working in a production/warehouse environment.


1.      Must be able to read and write in English.

2.      Good verbal and written communication skills.

3.      Ability to calculate basic mathematical problems.

4.      Requires the ability to organize, manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, stressful environment while meeting established deadlines.

5.      Must possess a strong work ethic and a proven ability to work independently and make decisions demonstrating good judgment.

6.      Ability to perform basic computer actions and to use Microsoft Word and Outlook programs. Must possess the willingness to learn and receive limited computer training.

7.      Must have an ability to learn company software programs such as the ERP system.

8.      Excellent attention-to-detail; ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.

9.      Requires the ability to work well in a team environment.

10.  Must be able to communicate professionally with employees and vendors in person and on the telephone.

11.  Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with people at all levels.

12.  Ability to support the fiscal year inventory process.

13.  Ability to safely operate a forklift and maintain forklift certification.

2.      Must be able to stand for the 100% of the shift to complete reports, access the database, communicate with vendors and internal customers, etc.

3.      Mobility is required to allow access to all employee work areas to include offices, the Production Clean Rooms, warehouse, and building exterior.

4.      Ability to withstand varying temperature extremes in the Warehouse and outside the building is required to fulfill regularly assigned duties.

5.      Must comply with company hygiene and gowning requirements as defined in the Department Operating Procedures, 'Gowning Requirements and Basic Hygiene for Warehouse, Assembly, Clean Room and Boxing Areas'.

6.      Must be able to withstand exposure to isopropyl alcohol used for hand cleaning.

7.      Must be able to withstand exposure to latex.



1.      Fingering:   Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

2.      Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

3.      Lifting:  Full range of motion required to bend, push, pull, stoop, reach, twist, and lift and move objects up to 55 pounds continuously, for short and long distances, throughout the shift. 

4.      Visual Acuity:  Closely viewing in order to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
