Job Description


This position utilizes Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve operational/business processes within the region such as Inventory Management, Operations, Supplier Administrative Processes and Customer Processes. The Manager works with business leaders and establishes project teams with subject matter experts and drives improvement through effective project management skills. Develops project budgets/plans and has overall responsibility for achieving project timeliness.


1.            Effectively manages and coordinates a work team of subject matter experts. Prioritizes concurrent tasks and balances workloads to ensure timely completion of assignments. Acquires a cost-effective, efficient mix of skill sets comprised of internal resources and external experts.

2.            Partners with field management, Home Office management, and Six Sigma team to identify and investigate opportunities to streamline existing business processes through ongoing refinement and process innovation. Analyzes complex business problems/procedures to identify and assess possible alternatives. Recommends appropriate course of action to senior management.

3.            Develops a comprehensive project plan, assists in the execution of the plan and monitors the progress according to plan.

4.           Ensures projects are completed on time and on budget and are aligned with organizational strategic goals clarifying project components as needed.  As a Change Leader, works with process owners and stakeholders to implement process changes and act as mediator or conflict negotiator on project teams as necessary.

5.            Develops/implements creative solutions designed to enhance operating efficiency and effectiveness and reports out to business owners and senior management, in a clear, concise manner, the status and results of work team activities.

6.           Communicates/Demonstrates to management how the use of Six Sigma Lean methodologies and processes will decrease cost, increase productivity and enhance process effectiveness and efficiencies. Champions the Six Sigma Lean approaches with teammates, vendors, carriers and suppliers; makes presentations to build support for the program.  




          Performs additional duties as directed.




1.   Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or Logistics required

2.   At least five years (up to and including) seven years

3.   Certified Lean, Six Sigma or TPS training preferred


A.   Strong conceptual and analytical skills.

B.   Ability to organize, manage and bring to conclusion complex, multi-year projects.

C.   Proficient with a broad range of project management tools.

D.  Understanding of project planning principles, critical path management, task development/management and methodologies related to process innovation and client-server implementation.

E.   Ability to develop and implement a methodology and establish a process for continual refinement of the methodology.

F.   Ability to incorporate methodology into an effective project work plan, customizing where required based on unique characteristics of each project.

G.  Working knowledge of financial analysis techniques (i.e. cost-benefits analysis, break-even analysis, net present value, internal rate of return, lease vs. buy analysis, etc.)

H.  Knowledge of the medical products distribution industry.

I.    Strong analytical and statistical skills; demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills

J.    Ability to complete required coursework in Six Sigma and/or Lean methodologies.

K.   Ability to manage large projects; excellent project management and process improvement skills

L.    Strong interpersonal and presentation skills including the ability to interact with company Officers and outside parties, including vendors

M.  Strong verbal and written communication skills

N.  Proven ability to effectively utilize professional staff in the completion of multiple priorities

O.  Ability to meet stringent deadlines and perform under pressure

P.   Ability to motivate and direct the work of others and influence teammates at all levels and in all functions and drive change throughout assigned areas.
