Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.       Supports the Category Management Team in accomplishing overall growth and profitability of their assigned categories.

2.       Provides analysis that helps the Category Management Team develop potential growth strategies in assigned category segments through new product development, associated pricing strategies and eventually field sales support.

3.       Analyzes and shares customer/shopper research with retail partners as input to joint category plans and reviews (e.g., category demand projections, consumer shopping trends, purchasing behaviors, price/discount sensitivity, brand/retailer loyalty, etc.).

4.       Works closely with the Category Management team on product development; including defining key product attributes, setting market pricing, and forecasting.

5.       Supports proprietary product launches to Owens & Minor field by preparing and providing analytics and reporting to support and track successes.

6.       Reviews daily list of products requested by the field for MediChoice sales conversion opportunities (Gate Keeping) and establishes accurate cross-references in partnership with Category Managers.

7.       Works closely with product administration teams, Mainstreet and Inventory Management to assure uniform application of product descriptions, product attributes and cross reference information.

8.       Assists the team with responding to field and customer inquiries by monitoring category management mailboxes.

9.       Provides monthly status updates to Category management team.

1.       Performs additional duties as directed.



Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Communications, etc.)
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in E-Commerce or retail, preferably in a merchandising or project management function
  • Product and Category Management or Business Intelligence experience highly preferred

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability
  • Strong skillset in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word and Power Point).  Excel VLookUp experience is required.
  • High comfort level with new systems and technology.  Experience with working in a content management system.
  • Proven experience in a high pressure and in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and establish priorities; stay organized and exercise flexibility when working on multiple projects.
  • Ability to interact with staff at all levels of the company, cross-functional teams multiple departments on a daily basis.
  • Working as a team player and team collaboration are key to the success of this position.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
