Job Description

Under general supervision, performs senior level accounting and analysis functions that support the preparation of external financial statements and SEC filings. Serves as an assistant to the Director of Financial Reporting in researching and implementing technical accounting standards, including liaising with internal business owners. Also provides accounting and analytical support to assigned business units.




  1. Prepares SEC filings, such as forms 10-K and 10-Q, including financial statements, footnotes and MD&A. Compiles and/or prepares support for financial statement footnotes and other included financial disclosures.

  1. Performs research on various accounting issues that arise in the normal course of business and interprets and documents the impact on the company.

  1. Assists in identifying new or emerging accounting and financial reporting issues.  Researches issues and recommends implementation actions.

  1. Supports preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for executives and board of directors.

  1. Reviews and prepares journal entries as needed for assigned accounts and/or companies.

  1. Assists with special accounting projects, such as acquisitions, valuation of share-based compensation, and goodwill and long-lived asset impairment testing.

  1. Prepares monthly journal entries and related schedules for unique general ledger accounts such as goodwill, restructuring reserves, intangible assets and intercompany transactions.

  1. Participates in audits and examinations performed by external and internal auditors.

  1. Provides technical accounting advice to accounting, tax, treasury, and other individuals throughout the organization.
  2. Assists in statutory accounting and related filings, including preparing benefit plan financial statements.

  1. Performs additional duties as directed, including, but not limited to, accounting and analyses as required to provide decision-making information to senior and operational management.


QUALIFICATIONS:

                A.            EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:

4-year college or university education with a major in accounting. CPA  required.

                B.            WORK EXPERIENCE:

                                At least five years (up to and including) seven years.

                                Prior SEC reporting and/or Public accounting experience.

                C.            KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Project leadership skills.
  2. Specific experience researching and interpreting GAAP and SEC issues.
  3. Ability and experience managing and performing multiple, concurrent tasks.
  4. Good communication skills.
  5. Strong analytic abilities.
  6. Increasing public or corporate accounting experience.
  7. Strong PC skills (Advanced level Excel, Word required).
  8. General ledger (Oracle, PeopleSoft preferred) skills.
