POSITION SUMMARY

 

Maintains and demonstrates a senior level of proficiency in a business or clinical discipline that is integral to the success of consulting engagements. Leads complex projects or project initiatives across multiple facilities, regions, or service lines.    Responsible for the successful delivery of logistical, clinical, cost management, technology and/or consulting services, in areas such as inventory management/logistics, contract management, process design, project management, technology implementations, data collection or analysis implementations and other client related services.  Leads, projects and project-related initiatives as assigned by leadership.  May include the leadership of other Owens & Minor teammates and customer project teams, and/or serving in a formal project management role. Plays a major role in engagements that generate significant annual revenue and/or margin recognition.

Considered an expert in the Company and may be the in-house expert in specific areas/technologies.  Having broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.   Champions significant projects and business initiatives.

Works on most complex technical projects or business issues requiring expert technical or domain knowledge where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.   Means of arriving at a solution generally determined by incumbent.   Typically some degree of barriers to entry (e.g. top management review, approval) exist at this level.   Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.

Acts independently and exercises some latitude in determining objectives and approaches.   Generally provides a leadership role across work groups and may supervise the activities of others.

Possesses very strong skills acquired through advanced training, study and experience.   Advanced knowledge of specialty.  If in technical field, often knowledge is "self taught" as formal training in emerging technologies may not exist.  



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Leads supply chain consulting projects or project initiatives and is considered an expert in a specific discipline or function. 
  2. Acts as Subject-Matter-Expert on business or clinical disciplines and instructs other teammates through OMU and other educational avenues when required.
  3. Gathers, researches, analyzes, and evaluates data from a variety of sources to produce strategic and actionable short and long-term project recommendations. Summarizes key findings and conclusions; presents recommendations to key stakeholders including senior executives in O&M or client organizations, including success story documentation.
  4. Responsible for overseeing and/or performing supply chain analytics/analysis, process mapping, data collection or analysis, project status updates, project plan creation, development and other O&M related services autonomously within limited direction.
  5. Leads supply chain assessments and interviews of internal and external customers to identify opportunities for supply chain improvements. Makes and/or presents recommendations to O&M or clients based on industry best practices and/or successfully demonstrated results of similar organizations.
  6. Summarizes and presents work results/outputs to internal and external customers in a formal and informal setting.
  7. Provides remote or on-site services in a lead role across multiple initiatives.  In addition, contributes to post-engagement documentation of successes and lessons learned.
  8. Leads O&M projects to improve revenue, margin, customer retention, and efficiencies through participation in cross functional teams.
  9. Reports and/or presents project progress against deliverables, quality, cost, team and schedule expectations including providing project status reports to the appropriate project lead.
  10. Initiates and/or contributes to post-engagement project and individual performance review process.
  11. Consistently adheres to use of O&M standardized tools and methodologies.
  12. Provides input to the appropriate teams for the development of O&M tools, methods, and services.
  13. Assists in recruitment and retention of quality O&M teammates.  Educates and develops O&M teammates in a matrix environment.
  14. Monitors, coaches, and educates teammates and client's staff in supply chain processes.
  15. Manages and leads initiatives within the project/engagement structure.
  16. Leads supply chain assessments.  Interviews internal and external customers to identify opportunities for supply chain improvements. Documents supply chain improvement recommendations to project leadership or to clients based on industry best practices and/or successfully demonstrated results of similar organizations.
  17. Serves as Project Manager for consulting engagements, when assigned. This may include responsibility for engagement deliverables, project plans, status updates, and indirect team management.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1.                Bachelor's Degree, RN, or equivalent experience in healthcare logistics, supply chain management, nursing, or related field is preferred

2.                Healthcare supply chain management preferred

3.                LEAN or Six Sigma Certification preferred

4.                Project Management Certification preferred

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

A.      Demonstrated understanding of supply chain management, consulting principles and practices.

B.      Repeated demonstrated competencies in communication, project management, presentation, process design, data analytics, persuasion and negotiation skills as needed to successfully interact with internal and external O&M customers.

C.      Demonstrated understanding of company offerings and the ability to work with and support the operational objectives of O&M.

D.      Proven ability to identify, communicate, and design opportunity approaches to Center For Excellence project leadership and/or to appropriate internal O&M leadership to expand the scope of existing engagement

E.       Demonstrated ability to manage small consulting engagements and project teams (4-6 teammates), work independently, with internal and external teammates, and with a diverse team.

F.       Proven ability to organize, facilitate, and lead multi-disciplinary work teams.

G.     Possess the ability to listen and respond appropriately to customer and co-worker requests, communicate effectively with clients and team members, to clarify understanding, diffuse and resolve tense situations, and deliver information effectively.

H.   Ability to research, write and present critical analyses and recommendations relevant to stated subject matter expertise.

I.      Ability to adjust to client preferences regarding the format and style of consulting activities and reports, ability to prepare charts, graphs and written assessments in a professional manner.

J.     Ability to build and maintain relationships with O&M teammates, hospital staff and physicians, and/or manufactures.

K.    Ability to communicate, influence, and persuade others at all levels, to present information in a clear, concise, professional manner.

L.     Demonstrated advanced analytical/PC skills:  Excel, Access, Visio, Value Stream Mapping, word processing, project planning and graphics presentation software.

M.    Where applicable, ability to create and/or modify interfaces.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1.      Fingering:   Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

3.      Sedentary work:  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
