POSITION SUMMARY

 

Leads all aspects of IT delivery for Owens & Minor, both domestic and international.  Implements and ensures adherence to global IT operational controls, processes, procedures.  Manages IT systems that support the business, ensuring customer and teammate satisfaction, financial performance, operating efficiency and adherence to company values.  Implements processes and procedures to ensure business operations are not impacted by disruption of production IT systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.       Applies extensive IT knowledge and experience to globally plan, organize, staff, direct and control Owens & Minor teammates and vendor relationships, ensuring that IT delivery meets or exceeds expectations.

2.       Devises and helps to implement IT strategies and tactics for achieving Owens & Minor's corporate objectives

3.       Directs strategic and tactical planning efforts globally among business units, Information Systems, IT vendors and other stakeholders.

4.       Utilizes financial acumen to both create business cases and judge the merits of other proposed business cases to acquire, extend, and/or modify vendor offerings.

5.       Reviews IT operating results, compares them with established global objectives, and takes action that enhances IT network and operations outcomes.

6.       Provides administrative management for all teammates in the IT delivery group.  Reviews reports or other measurement devices to understand teammate assignments, following up as needed.  Identifies, resolves, and/or escalates personnel issues.

7.       Conducts and participates in performance evaluations, new hire interviews, and succession planning. Determines teammate training needs, sponsoring and funding within the limits of corporate and divisional expense and administrative policies.

8.       Provides advice, guidance, and direction to the global IT delivery team, communicating policies, procedures, and company initiatives.  Maintains and grows existing IT network and operations relationships, internally and externally.

9.       Assists with the preparation, implementation and management of global data processing procedures and systems.

10.   Maintains professional contacts with related external companies, research bodies and equipment manufacturers concerning computer applications and equipment. 

11.   Keeps abreast of technological changes and innovation in the information technology field.

12.   Communicates with Field and Corporate Operations related to the IT network, operations, and availability of production business systems.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.       Performs additional duties as directed.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; concentration in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field highly preferred
  • Fifteen (15) or more years' IT network or operations experience
  • Eight (8) or more years' experience in an IT management role with direct reports

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Subject matter expertise in applications development and support including requirements gathering and analysis, design, selection of tools and technologies, programming, testing, performance measurement, application and infrastructure tuning, testing and quality assurance, technical training, systems deployment and project management methodologies
  • Leadership experience in building, sustaining and improving global IT Delivery services; relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Subject matter expertise related to supply chain systems, EDI, data center management, network operations, technical services, physical and logical information security, vendor management, capital asset acquisition and maintenance and related activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior management, corporate and distribution center teammates
  • Capable of identifying emerging technologies and successfully applying them to critical business problems
  • Ability to lead through change & maintains operational service levels
  • IT Integration & Acquisition experience

  • Analytical skills with ability to make decisions with limited information
  •  Ability to manage teams across multiple technology related disciplines

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Travel up to 50%.
