Job Description

Executive level position that leads all field sales activities for supply chain solutions (targeting, sales, revenue generation). Responsible for the performance in achieving sales and profitability goals. Collaborates with other Owens & Minor leadership (Core Sales, Center for Excellence, Core Distribution, Enterprise Team, Strategic and National Accounts) to create and communicate consistent strategies for the healthcare provider organizations. Creates relationships with the officers of healthcare provider organizations. These relationships support the formulation of service strategies to improve the efficiency and profitability of the provider and operations. Develops strategies, positions programs to fulfill strategies and creates contracts to deliver services to healthcare providers.


  1. Has responsibility for revenue targets and profitability of supply chain solutions to include: Low Unit of Measure, Supply Chain redesign, clinical supply chain (OR, Cath Lab, IR).

  1. Builds the appropriate relationship with key healthcare providers that supports the positioning of programs, services and technologies from the Center for Excellence (CFE).

  1. Collaborates with counterparts in Owens & Minor Core Distribution to insure that these operations are supported in a cost effective manner.

  1. Manages the contracting process for services delivered.

  1. Directs supply chain solution sales efforts to include: Low Unit of Measure, Supply Chain redesign, clinical supply chain (OR, Cath Lab, IR).

  1. Collaborates with peers and the other leadership to create and promote standardization of best practices.

  1. Creates budgets when appropriate and supports hiring plans to accomplish the needs of consulting, outsourcing, value added programs and core (O&M) service requirements.

  1. Insures that all commitments are made in accordance with Owens & Minor policies and the commitments made to all customers can be fulfilled and implemented.

  1. Participates in executive level forums and strategy sessions that guide OMSolutions in the development of people, programs and technology.

10.                Works with third-party consulting organizations when appropriate to develop and deliver programs and services


  1. Assists the sales and corporate leadership in developing and documenting Best Practices.

  1. Assists in developing programs and service offerings

  1. Guides personnel in developing procedures and implementing them




A.   Position requires a broad knowledge of an advanced professional discipline not available at the undergraduate level. Equal to a Master's degree, CPA, CPE, CCM, CMA.

B.   An MBA or MHA is preferred.

C.   Professional certification at the University Level is preferred.


A.   At least ten years of experience in consulting and sales to the executive levels of healthcare. Experience with logistics/supply chain operations in healthcare and similar industries. Multiple industry experience is preferred.

B.   Experience in positioning, selling and delivering large consulting engagements.

C.   A demonstrated ability to generate relationships at the CEO, COO and CFO level is essential.

D.   Budget P&L responsibility

E.   Proven ability to lead, and to manage the leadership of, multiple large-scale engagements, preferably in a diverse geographic/demographic setting.

D.   Knowledge of materials management, information systems, and basic statistics is required.

E.   High level of proficiency and demonstrated effectiveness in problem-solving and implementing new programs.

          Picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers primarily (rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling).


          Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.  Talking is important for those activities in which workers must impart oral information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.


          Perceiving the nature of sounds.  Hearing is important for those activities which require ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on running engines.
