Job Description

Responsible for all aspects of the software development life cycle in support of the 3PL technology.  Designs, writes, implements, tests, troubleshoots and supports application components including, but not limited to, warehouse management system, transportation management, voice pick technology, and automated conveyor systems. Works with all levels of the 3PL organization with a focus on improving warehouse operations to develop overall technology direction and working with customers to identify and implement industry-leading technology solutions.  Defines technical standards and processes and ensures a seamless integration of multiple customer systems. Reports to the Manager, Application Development



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.   Provides full support of the Red Prairie Warehouse Management System to include writing MOCA commands, updating policies, and configuring the warehouse management system.

2.   Provides full support of the Red Prairie Integrator to support interfaces to multiple warehouse automation systems.

3.   Maintains a non-going collaborative approach with the Warehouse Operations team to continuously improve warehouse efficiency through technology.

4.   Configures Warehouse systems and interface setup for new customer implementations.

5.   Works with 3rd Party software providers and consultants to implement upgrades and changes to the applications.

6.   Tests all new code, configuration, and interfaces.

7.   Maintains communication of all system related issues, changes, and upgrades to the 3PL business teams.

8.   Adheres to the SDLC and change management process in support of ISO Standards as well as compliance to CFR 21. Part 11.

9.  Maintains communication with the 3PL team, 3rd Party software providers, and other interested consultants to ensure that the proper information is shared in a timely and efficient manner.

10.  Coordinates efforts with employees, vendors, customers and other partners to ensure successful completion of projects.

11.   Identifies opportunities that lead to operational improvements and/or savings.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Augments the QA team for testing as required.
  2. Supports compliance efforts for CFR 21, Part 11 as required.
  3. Identifies emerging technologies and successfully applies them to critical business problems.
  4. Performs additional duties as directed.


QUALIFICATIONS:

          EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:

                   Four-year under graduate degree required.

          WORK EXPERIENCE:

Five to seven years of experience in systems development; minimum of 3 years of project experience in manufacturing and/or distribution is required.

          KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

A.   Technical understanding in a broad range of technology disciplines such as n-tier development, Java, HTML, XML, Enterprise Application Integration (especially MQSeries), relational databases, application servers, and security services.

 B.   Ability to write and support complex SQL code.

 C.   DC Operations knowledge and experience

 D.   Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issue into terminology for the business team to understand.

 E.   Knowledge of healthcare and health care distribution a plus.

 F.    Experience in development processes including requirements-gathering and analysis , design, selection of tools and technologies, release and version control, testing methodologies and deployment management.

 G.   Self-starter; can work independently.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:

  1. Inside working conditions.

STRENGTH REQUIREMENT:

          Light Work:  Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Light Work usually requires walking orstanding to a significant degree. However, if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

TYPE OF PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

          Acuity, near

          Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.

        Field of Vision

          Observing an area that can be seen up and in a given point. This factor is important when job performance requires seeing a large area while keeping the eyes fixed.

        Accommodation

          Adjustment of lens of eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This item is especially important when doing near-point work at varying distances from eye.

        Handling

Seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand.

Fingering

          Picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers primarily (rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling).

          Talking

          Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.  Talking is important for those activities in which workers must impart oral information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

          Hearing

          Perceiving the nature of sounds.  Hearing is important for those activities that require ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on running engines.
